SpyAgent Review:

Summary:
SpyAgent is a feature packed monitoring solution, but because of the many configuration options, and presentation of recorded data, may be more geared toward advanced users.

Features:
SpyAgent provides many features and configuration options, almost too many, which may make it overwhelming for some users. SpyAgent records all standard activities including keystrokes, programs run, screenshots (in a specified time interval), chat sessions, websites visited and more. The screenshot slideshow, however, does not have a video play mode - you must export the slideshow to html and click through each image manually. Also, in order to view web-based mail, you must use their web content monitor, which gives you a link to the message, in which you must browse to, and in most cases, log in to receive - this content monitoring only works with Internet Explorer. We were unable to record incoming and outgoing Hotmail messages with Firefox, even with the web content monitor set to 'capture content of all sites'. On the plus side, they have a 'Smart Logging' feature which allows you to add specific words, which, if typed or found in a URL will initiate monitoring for a specified period of time. Additional features include a basic blacklist/whitelist based web filter, a program blocker (which allows you to prevent specific applications on your computer from running) and schedule-based monitoring allowing you select times in which monitoring will occur.

Usability / Management:
The SpyAgent management interface is invoked using a secret hotkey combination along with a password (set at install) at the computer being monitored. The interface is a bit cluttered and takes time to learn. Configuring the various settings can also be a bit cumbersome as there are many different windows and tabs to look through for various settings. There is no remote monitoring functionality. You can, however, configure SpyAgent to sent you periodic email reports.

Detectability:
SpyAgent did a great job hiding itself. In stealth mode, we were unable to find it in task manager, the services list, the start menu, or add-remove programs.

Support:
They have a comprehensive online user manual and an online trouble ticket system. They responded very quickly to our questions.

SpyAgent Minimum Requirements:
Windows NT, 2000, XP, Vista
133MHz or faster CPU
32 MB of RAM
3MB hard drive space
internet connection
