PC Pandora Review:
Summary:
PC Pandora is a great computer monitoring solution with some useful parental control functionality as well.
Features:
PC Pandora provides many of the activity monitoring capabilities you would expect to find in a quality computer monitoring product such as keystroke monitoring, website monitoring, screenshot capturing, chats, email, and P2P monitoring. However, they do not provide a slideshow for captured screenshots - you must scan through and enlarge each screenshot manually. They also cannot capture web-based mail such as Hotmail, Yahoo Mail, etc.. Another strong drawback is the lack of any trigger-based monitoring - the ability to add specific words, and then trigger monitoring when certain events occur which associate with these words such as if the word is typed or found in a web page. This feature is useful if you don't want to sort through all recorded data for specific information. We were surprised that PC Pandora doesn't offer this capability as all of the higher ranked products have some sort of trigger-based monitoring features. They also provide limited web filtering and scheduled monitoring functionality. PC Pandora also has web filtering functionality.
Usability / Management:
The PC Pandora management interface is invoked using a secret hotkey combination along with a password (set at install) at the computer being monitored. PC Pandora's tabbed interface is very easy to navigate to view recorded data. Configuration is also relatively simple, there is not much configuration necessary for the activity monitors - for each, you can either turn it on or off. There is no remote monitoring functionality. You can, however, configure PC Pandora to sent you periodic email reports.
Detectability:
We were unable to find any traces of PC Pandora in task manager, the services list, the start menu, or add-remove programs.
